Hacktool.Rootkit detected by Norton

Alright, here's the deal. I got an AIM message from a friend that had a link, and I clicked the link. Now apparently that person had a virus that spreads by IMing people on the buddy list this link, and when you click the link it gives you the virus. So, Norton Antivirus detects Hacktool.Rootkit on C:\Windows\system32\msdirectx.sys. I go to find that file in that folder (Hidden files unhidden) and it isnt even there. I dont know if this is the viruses way of hiding itself or if I lost a vital system file or what, but its just not there. Nothing I download can find this virus, and I havent had any symptoms since then, so it might not even exist anymore, I have no idea. If anyone has advice for me, I'd love to here it. Thanks for your time.

Roger
