Half Life 2 versions?

Hello.

Is there a version of Half Life 2 that you can buy from shops that doesnt ask you to download the game when you come to install it? I have a download cap on by internet connection and couldnt possibly download the game from steam.

You can buy a retail version of the game but you will still have to validate it, decrypt it and update it online through Steam. With the retail box you are not downloading the whole game, just the updates. But you still have to go through a certain hassle whether you intend to play online or not.

Ok thanks for the reply. I doubt updates will be too taxing on my download limit.

How come you have download limits? That would do my head in... is it cheaper with a limit on?

Yes i pay less money for a broadband connection and it limits me to certain things. Im fine to surf the internet all day but i cannot download files.
