Hi everbody, this is my first time posting on tech spot.
I have a Dell Dimension E310 that I bought back in august of 2006. I am now going to build a computor. What I am wondering is can I take my hard drive from my dell and use it on the computor that I am building? Will I lose my info that I have on my hard drive? Will my os stay on the hard drive when I move it? I am also wondering if I could use my cd/dvd drive to?

Any help would be great!

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Yes, you will be able to reuse your hard drive. However, you will need to reformat it once you`ve installed it in the new computer. This is because the hard drive contains all the hardware/software drivers etc from the old system and simply won`t work with the new systems hardware.

This means you`ll need to backup any important data you have, otherwise you`ll lose it, as a format will wipe the hard drive.

You shouldn`t have any problems with using the cd/dvd drive.
