  1. Hi all...well... i am new one here, so i guessed i should say hello to you all (good manners after all :) )
    Currently i am trying to connect my Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 with PC w2k (Ethernet over USB) but to no avail. I tried several usergroups and wrote to Sharp support but got no answer/explanation.
    I heard good things about this forum so i hope i'll get my answer soon.

    Hi there zare and welcome, if u could fill in your user profile with all the info it asks for that would be so helpful to us, if u click on the start button, select run, type cmd then ipconfig in the black window that appears and let me know what it says then i can hopefully help.

    I am operating from within internal network from work.
    Here are the information you required :

    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . :
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . :
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

    Everything works fine from that side.
    I have installed updated Sharp ROM for Zaurus (v3.1 - this is the last update for this model right?) and i have Linux kernel version 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix and Qtopia for Embedix Plus PDA version 1.5.4 and latest desktop software (Intellysync and USB drivers). Now this is the funny part :

    (a) On my PC when i turn on Zaurus new network connection is created. And it is all setup automatically. My primary network connection is set up so it is shared. This network connection shuts down when i disconnect Zaurus from its cradle.

    (b) But on Zaurus i get pretty puzzled. I searched through internet and found few tutorials on connecting via Ethernet over USB (also called USB-TCP/IP - correct me if i am wrong please). On those websites i have found graphical tutorials (step-by-step) going like :
    Go to Settings->Network->New

    And here is a part that i dont understand. There are 2 situations : Either it says "create new USB-TCP/IP connection (from the list shown)" or "create LAN-TCP/IP and choose option connect by USB (radiobutton)".
    I dont have USB-TCP/IP connection in the list or connection option for LAN-TCP/IP.

    Also Sync with desktop software doesn't work when using USB-TCP/IP option (in both Intellisync and PC-Link app on Zaurus). it just reports error.

    As far as i can see SL5500 (bought in USA) is capable for USB-TCP/IP connection. Am i missing drivers for Zaurus OS? Is it something else?
