Hi all, i just registered in this great Forum. And my first post already giving you guys problem. I am sorry for that.
My hard disk (maxtor 120 GB) felt down from a shelf, and around 30 cm height.
And just now i connected it back to my CPU.
What i get right now, i cant read the hard disk and it has a very noisy clicking sound like when we hold and press any key in our keyboard.

Do i still have a hope for this ? I almost crazy now.

Thanks a lot

Clicking isn't good.. And since you dropped the thing, you probably broke something mechanical - not good at all.

So, i really dont have any hope at all then. Can u recommend me what brand is good? around 300 GB and is external hard disk safe? (if not fall down again of course).
Thank you Mr.Nodso

Sadly, any hard drive can fail at any moment - they are unreliable by nature. Your best bet is to get something with a 5-year warranty so you can get a replacement.

External hard drives are exactly the same as internal ones - they just have a protective box around them.
