Help! I spent $50 and now my game wont work

I have a sony vaio VGN-FJ290P computer that uses windows xp professional and I just purchased the game called the movies and everytime i try to play my game it crashes at loading time. I think my video card and sound card are outdated. How do i update? and how do i know what kind of video card manufacturer my computer uses?

second, what does the requirements on the game package say?

it is a laptop and my computer meets all the requirments......so i went to the games website and alot of people posted comments saying crash at loading which is the problem i am having and the game site replied with saying check your requirements and make sure your video card and sound card are updated. and it says they wont say how to update a sound card because all manufacturers do it differently

if you have a sound card issue, you go to the maker's website and download and install the new drivers.
