Hi all,
Im installing XP on my machine which all ready has 98 on it. Ive never done this before so im having a little trouble. when i insert the disk and click on install xp should i choose to upgrade or do a new install??? thing is, i chose to do a new install and its copied all the nessisary files over then restarted in setup mode. when i get the the partition part, i want to delete the partition to start a fresh but it says it cant because the partition holds temp files that it needs to complete the install. please help!!!!

Do you need to keep any of the files from your 98 OS? If not, I'd boot directly from the XP CD and completly format the hard drive before installing Windows XP

did you install while 98 was running
that could be why
on boot with disc in it should boot to disc then go through check
it should come up with a drive found may have said found OS do you want to delete or install with or an addition
just delete this drive (highlighted)
then reformat and install let it install all the way on next boot don't do anything
