Help me pick memory for my new build...

  1. I plan on using a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R motherboard with a Q6600 processor and an eVGA 8800GTX. The motherboard is perfect for me because it supports DDR3, lots of performance and the P35 chipset. I don’t need the second PCIe slot because I don’t plan on dual cars, ever. I picked the processor because its probably going to last me the longest and be the best I can get for a while and the same with the graphics card. I need opinions on memory, now.

    Should I get 4 gigs of 4-4-4-12 DDR2 800 memory? (2 kits)

    … or should I get 2 gigs of 5-5-5-15 DDR2 1066 memory?

… or perhaps I should look into DDR3 memory now?

I’m looking to spend no more then $250 max on memory… and I know I need at least 2 gigs. This machine will be used for lots of gaming, mainly MMO’s.

As far as OCing goes, I'll probably end up doing a mild OC but nothing too extreme. I'm afraid to fry my big investment :p.

    start with reading the guides:

noobs shouldn't even consider overclocking. You can really fry components and waste money and time if you don't know what you're doing.
