Help Needed

Hi I've been experiencing some weird viruses for three days or so. I have deleted about five Trojans using AVG, Spybot S&D, Ad aware SE, and some other programs. I believe I have deleted all the viruses on my Dell but I keep getting an .dll error on startup. I think it may be linked to a program I used, Vundo. Vundo saved a backup file that I deleted. (yhcpvbjv.dll.BAD) The error reads:

Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\yhcpvbjv.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Logfiles must be posted as attachments and not copy and pasted. Thanks.

Hi Rain.KGB and welcome to techspot. =)

Important: Please read this thread HERE before you decide whether to clean or reformat your system.

Should you decide to clean your computer, please go ahead to Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions and follow the steps given. These are a comprehensive mix of steps to remove common malware, as well as provide us logs of your system to look at so we can further remove any tricky nasties.
Do follow all the instructions exactly.

Thereafter, please post fresh HijackThis, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread. Do not copy and paste if not it will be ignored and/or removed by the moderators.

Also, please let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan

Ok I think I have fixed the the error but I am having a lot of connection problems. I use wireless. Here is my hijack this. I am downloading AVG antispyware but will it conflict with my AVG 7.5?

Hi,

Both software are from AVG, and will not produce any conflicts with each other. The antispyware is commonly used to detect and remove trojans etc so I would suggest you install and run a scan and quarantine the infections. Remember to save a log.

You may wish to copy and paste these instructions on notepad for easier reference later.

Boot into safe mode under your normal user name. See how HERE

Next turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE

Go to start > run and type services.msc. Press the enter key.
Search for the following services. Double click to select stop if they are running. Set the startup type to disabled. Click apply/ok for each service you disable.

Tair

Open your task manager by pressing holding ctrl, alt and pressing del. Alternatively, use ctrl + shift + esc. Go to the processes tab, and end the following processes, if found:

chkdsk.exe

After that, run HijackThis and fix the following entries, if found (do this by placing a tick in the check boxes beside these entries and clicking "Fix checked"):

R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Tair] "C:\DOCUME~1\BA\MYDOCU~1\SSEMBL~1\chkdsk.exe" -vt yazb
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk = ?
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mljijkl - mljijkl.dll (file missing)

Close HJT.

Navigate in Windows Explorer and delete the following files and folders in bold.
C:\DOCUME~1\BA\MYDOCU~1\SSEMBL~1\chkdsk.exe

Run your AVG scan here and quarantine any infections. Save your log.

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Thereafter, please post fresh HJT, ComboFix and AVG Antispyware logs from normal mode as attachments into this thread.

Hi,

I noticed that your AVG log displays 'Ignored' for all the files detected.

I suggest you run AVG again and quarantine the files. Pictorial instructions HERE.

Go to start > run. Type regedit and press Enter.
Press Ctrl + f and search for all instances of 'chkdsk.exe' and delete them.

Then post fresh ComboFix and AVG Antispyware logs as attachments into this thread.

Actually, I think I accidentally deleted those files off my computer. But I don't seem to be having anymore problems.

Also here are the reports.

Hi,

You have not gone to registry to delete those entries I have asked you to. Please do so.

Apart from that, your logs are clean. I do notice that you have alot of entries indicating several unnecessary processes running which may slow down your system.
May I suggest that you read this thread here on how to speed up your system.

Delete all files in AVG Antispyware Quarantine folder.

Turn off system restore (XP/ME only). Learn how to do that HERE.
This will remove all the remaining nasties from your old restore points.

After that turn system restore back on.
This would have created a new safe and clean restore point for your system.

Often times, an infection can occur again not due to the incompetence of programs, but because of user habits.
May I recommend you to read this article.
This can help to prevent future infections.

Should you have any further problems, please post in this thread.
