i have just installed 256mb ram into my dell dimension xps t500 and when i turned it on it says windows cannot start because the following file is missing or corrupt system32\drivers\fastfat.sys, i have tryed removing the 256mb and just having the 64mb i had in it and it starts up fine, but when i put the 256mb one in it says that. i have tryed it with both in but all i get is about 5 beeps coming from the motherboard. help. got the networking problem sorted by the way.

You have either compatibility issues or wrong memory settings in the BIOS setup.
Do you have a PC100 motherboard and the new stick is PC133?

Try with only the 256MB stick. Also, look around in BIOS setup for any RAM related settings.

What happens when you just have the 256Meg Module in? If it works, I'd just keep that 64 out of there then. Going from 64 to 256 is going to be a big performance increase, going from 256 to 320 isn't going to do too much.

Also, check out the link in my signature. For everyone's benefit.
