Help with archos AV400 hard drive

I av got a problem with my archos hard drive, anytime i switch it on it comes up with a message "Cant read from hard drive with option to format".

i av formatted it so many times now and still doesnt work.can any1 help me pls, thank you

run a disk diagnostic test on the hdd from the manufacturer's website and it'll tell you if its dead or recoverable.. if its dead then send it back for warranty etc..

The AV400 is not an external hard drive. It is a portable media device.

I don't really know how it works, but does it require drivers or special software to access? This may be a reason why.

Does your player work on its own? Can you browse and manipulate your files on the unit itself?

... or do you have a different model and maybe just made a typo?
