Help with low fps in Counter Strike Source

  1. I need help figuring out why my fps in Counter Strike Source is so low.
Ususally I get about 10-30 fps and my ping is about 20-50. It's hard to turn my screen or aim and everything is slow. Some maps make my screen so bright I can't see anything. I checked the minimum requirements for the game so it should work on my computer. Here is info about my computer:
Microsoft Windows Xp Media Centre Edition
    HP Pavilion
    AMX Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual
    Core Processor 4200+
2.20 GHz, 1.93 GB of RAM
    DirectX Level 9.0
    nVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

You mean, aside from the fact you have a horrible video card?

What resolution and AF/FSAA are you trying to push with that?

Technically he doesn't have a video card, but rather an on-board gpu which is very weak. With that setup I'd say to get 30-60 fps the settings should be: no more than 1024 resolution(800 optimal), no AA or AF, all settings at lowest values.

For your brightness problem, try turning off the in-game HDR (high dynamic range) brightness.
