HijackThis Log - Problem with Popups and possible Keylogger

Hi All,

Been having a problem with a lot of popups since I installed a Chinese based program about 2 weeks ago. After running TrendMicron and Panda online they seemed to suggest I had quite a few problems and possibly a keylogger on the system.

I have follwed all the instructions in the sticky posts but am just wondering if someone could check over my log to see if ive got the all clear now. I do quite a bit of financial transactions from the pc so really need to know if its ok to start putting in passwords etc.

I have attached a HijackThis log from before I followed the 'Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions' thread (called HijackThisOLD.txt)
And one from after (called HijackThisNEW.txt).
I have also attached the AVG Spyware Scan Log.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks,
Ross

Ok I've tried to be pro-active on this.
I've run Kaspersky Anti-virus and also taken advice off (a lot) of other threads.
If someone could just quickly read through my current HJT log to check if ive got the all clear, I would be eternally grateful

Cheers,
Ross

doh! forgot to attach HJT log!!

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

CNNIC

Close control panel.

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

cdnup.exe

Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: CdnForIE Class - {5C3853CF-C7E0-4946-B3FA-1ABDB6F48108} - C:\PROGRA~1\CNNIC\Cdn\cdnforie.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F5824EFB-728A-4726-A5A5-85A68B20EDC3} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CdnCtr] C:\Program Files\CNNIC\Cdn\cdnup.exe

O8 - Extra context menu item: Access Internet Keyword - C:\Program Files\CNNIC\Cdn\cnnic.htm

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Program Files\CNNIC<Delete the entire folder.

Reboot into normal mode, turn system restore back on and rehide your protected OS files.

Other than the above, your HJT log is clean.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

Thanks Howard!

Ok Ive fixed everything youve said and the scan looks clean to me. However it took a few attempts to clear the Chinese navigation part and I couldn't locate the folder C:\Program Files\CNNIC, you said to delete.

Could you please check through my latest log just to give me the all clear?

Thanks,
Ross
