I've been unable to connect to Steam recently due to an error and the support at their site has told me this:

PreCondition Assertion Failed

If you have this error, there is a very good chance you have a program like BitDefender running which has hooked your internet connection. You won't be able to disable this program, you will need to uninstall it completely and reboot in order to fix this problem.

You'll need to use some other Anti-Virus solution.


So, after running a few spyware/adware/anti-virus programs I still remain unable to connect to Steam as a result of this unapparent program "hooking" my connection--so I'm posting my HJT log.
