How do I get my USB drives to work again??

Hello,
All was working well with my laptop until I plugged in a USB hub (with it's own power supply) which then blew up when I turned it on.....

Now, none of the 4 USB drives on my computer work. However, in the device manager, they all appear to be working fine.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Ohh things blown' up. That must have been exciting! Chances are that your USB ports will never work again without a new motherboard for your laptop. Now, I'm assuming that you have already restarted your laptop a couple of times and the USB ports still don't work! :(

Did you mean USB drives or USB ports? I assumed ports. USB drives are usually metal or plastic boxes containing hard drives connected to your computer through your USB ports.

Yes it was a little fun...

I did mean USB ports

I've got a plan B though.... buy a PCMCIA card with 4 USB ports - then hopefully I'll be back at square 1.

Whether or not I'll try another USB hub is another story.

Strangely enough, the only thing my usb ports do recognize is the stupid USB hub (very strange) although it comes up with an error message
"USB device has exceeded the power limits of the hub port"
So there is life there somewhere, just only for the cause of the problem!!!
