How I can create Partition ?

Hello ?
I want to know how to create Partition.
Currently, I have only one hard drive that is 80GB.
I want to use "Acronis True Image Home 10.0" to create partition but whenever I click "New Disk" or "Clone Disk", it said I have only one hard drive therefore it won't work.

Is there step by step how to create Partition ?
I searched forum but I can't find exact how to do that.
And I don't want to create Partition if it need format everything.

Could you explain how to do that ?
And I read some topic in forum: Some people create 6 or more partitions and they create game partition, window partition, program partition, and so on.

By the way, I am used almost 50GB. What if I am going to make partition, what will happened the stored files ? Will they safe or deleted if I am using Partition magic or Acronis partition manager ?
