How to empty a recycle bin that appears to be empty?

Apparently I have 6 items in my recycle bin. Problem is there appears to be nothing there. Every time I try to delete them I get an error message:
"Error deleting file or folder: Cannot delete <file - a pdf> The file name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name."

I'm guessing it's too long, seriously long. But how to delete them. Even when I try to clean up my hard drive it acknowledges that these files are there (48 MB worth) but does not delete them.

Any ideas???

www.jetico.com download BcWipe and wipe the recycle bin....
