hi there, i'd like some help, my computer is going perfectly good but i feel that something is going wrong... heres one of my problems: everytime i go on run, msconfig and then startup i have some programs that i'd like to uncheck, i uncheck everything except ccApp, but then when i restart the computer some of my programs will still run...
here the list
ctfmon
qttask
and sometimes nvcpl so i'd like you to tell me what to do to not run them when i start the computer (but not unistalling them)

i have a question, when i go on msconfig on system.ini, win.ini and services everything is checked, so i wanto know what should i uncheck to make my pc go faster but without problems... if you'll want i'll send you a screenshot of everything i got on msconfig... theres an hjt log attatch if you wanto take a look for crap... ty

First, your HJT log is clean.

Second, the easiest way to speed up your system is to get rid of that resource hogging Symantec/Norton crapware.

Just look how many Symantec?norton entries there are in your HJT log.

Get the free AVG antivirus programme and either the free Zonealrm or the free Kerio firewalls. Your system will run a lot quicker. Just Google for these.

qttask is the Quicktime icon in your system tray, it`s not needed. Go to your control panel and double click the Quicktime icon, select the advanced tab and uncheck the install quicktime icon in system tray. Click apply/ok.

ctfmon is part of Microsoft office. It is not recommended to remove/stop ctfmon.

hi, i tried to unistall norton, but my brother got really mad because we are paying for it to use it... so i will have to live with it till he goes away or my parents are going to buy me a portable computer, anyway thanks for the quicktime advice

That`s a shame, because it`s Symantec/Norton that`s slowing the system down the most.

Maybe your brother should take a look around these forums and see if he still thinks Symantec/Norton crapware is ok.

Regards Howard :)

I`ve already told you how to speed up your pc.

Have HJT fix these entries.
