Hi:grinthumb

I want to change my stock fan and heat shink to one of Zalman's.

My CPU: Intel Pentium 4 HT
Socket: 478
My computer: Sony Vaio PCV-RZ504

The only problem I have is that I cant get the darned fan off,

Thanks for any help

Can you take a close-up image of what you have? I have a good idea you have that large heat sink over CPU. Take a bit of time to remove though.

Dont know how to put the pic on this page, sorry about that

removing a stock heat sink should be a simple matter of slipping a long handled , small blade flat head screwdriver into the spade at one of the sink. Then GENTLY apply sufficient downward force to slip it off the tongues. It should just pop out.
BE VERY careful not apply too much pressure or you could crack your CPU die.

I had done that after looking at it, i got it off, then i pulled the handle and the claws came out further from the heatshrink, talking about being a malteaser (brown but blonde underneath)
