ibm thinkpad t22 freezes during windows xp installation

hello,

i have been trying to upgrade my ibm thinkpad t22 from windows nt 3.0 to
windows xp 2sp. it works fine until setup takes you to the installing windows
section. 2xs out 50 it went all the way to "registering devices" it freezes
exactly with 34 minutes left on setup, the 2xs it went to 14 min. I really
need to fix this problem soon. will be starting online classes on 10/7.

Please help!!!!????!!!!?

What are the specs of the system such as cpu, memory, and hard drive?
Any sys that's running nt3 is likely to be low on specs as far as running xp goes. I would head straight for 2k in this case. 2k will run fine on 64 megs ram if you don't use mem hungry apps. Xp will puke on that total ram.

cpu intel mobile pentium 3 900MHz
memory 512 mb
what can i do to fix?

Hmm. That system should run xp very well. Is there another cd you can try if the one you have been using is scratched? And I would also not upgrade install but install onto a freshly formatted drive.
