IDE cable not supporting two DVD drives

  1. I have recently bought a Sony DVD RW DWD-22A SCSI burner and added it to my computer, I put it in place of a plain old cd burner. The device shares an IDE cable along with a LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163D. I am able to read from both device fine but when I go to burn a cd or dvd using the new burner i have to disable the DVD-ROM in the device manager or unplug the IDE cable before i can burn anything or else i get a "burn falied at 4X" i have changed around the slave and master on both devices with no luck. Any suggestions please.
