I just picked up the above adapter. I comes with its own power source. I picked this up to get the info off of a hard drive from my old computer that is dust. The mb is shot but the hd is fine. Now when I hook up a cd/dvd rom drive to this adapter and plug the usb into my new machine with Vista, it detects it and shows the drive and it works, no problem. But when I try the hd it detects it, installs the drivers and then says it is ready to use but the drive or a new mass storage drive letter does not show up. Under device mgr it just shows the title of usb device not mass storage. Again, the attached hd does not show up under my computer so I have nothing to double click on or open to get to my files. Any ideas? My new computer all updated bios and chipset drivers so I'm pretty much set there.
