See if anyone can help me out on this...

My parents old computer had and IDE hardrive and they just bought a new Dell which has SATA 2 (7 pin serial connector). I'm trying to find a way to connect the old hard drive up to the new computer just to move the data off it to the new computer. Any ideas? I've been doing some looking around about hooking it up as a external and connecting it maybe with a usb adapter but so far I'm not getting anywhere with answers. Anyone know what I might do, or what I might buy?

newegg has a USB 2.0 to IDE adapter cable with power supply that would do just what you are looking for. it is made by Bytecc.

thats exactly they way I would do it
as a fact I use a adapter just to move stuff from pc to pc
the net can be to slow or I may have the net tied up and don't want to lose any connections.
I bought a junk external drive from ebay and scraped the cd that was in it. great for low speed ide transfers
