in XP, How to find a file created on a particular date?

In WinXP, I tried to find a file created between 09/08/2005 and 09/09/2005, but my results showed files created even months ago, some of them system files. What gives?

I'm not a newbie. I know how to do a search, and I set up the search properly, using the "when was it modified?" feature and then specifying the dates. So why did SEARCH tell me about files created long ago, some of which looked like system files?

Click Start/Search/File Finder, Set the path etc., select Details tab/Date = between
Click on the Created field.
Use the calendar function by clicking on the down-arrow on the right of the dates.

In your example you may have selected dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy or vice-versa, depending how your date format is set.
