Hello all. I've got a Motorola SB5100 modem and a brand spankin' new Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I'm having a jumpy online gaming experience (Battlefield 2 and Medal of Honor to be exact), with pings ranging from 30-300ms. Most of the time I'm getting about 3,500 kb/s from various test servers across the country, but sometimes it gets below 1,000. My service is advertised as 4,000 up 500 down. Some could say blame Katrina, but I've had service since almost a month after the storm and the connection was just dandy for a few months after the storm. It seemed like one day it just pooped out, that was about 3 months ago. It's so bad that I can't play games. I've tried placing the computer outside of the router firewall- no luck. When doing a tracert I receive bad pings (<120ms) from just about every router along the route except the mine. Could it be a bad modem or is there any other way I can safely clear up the connection?
Thanks,
Bryce
