Inspiron 1000 onboard ram bad?

I have a inspiron 1000 with 256 of integrated ram. I ran memtest on it for about 12 hours and there are now over 500,000 errors, so I stopped the test. Since it is onboard, what are my options? The laptop blue screens all the time, i cannot install XP even, and the blue screens prior were stop errors pointing towards ram issues.

Can i disable the ram, and put in a new stick in the empy bank?

Or, do I give up.

Thank you.

Troy

Do you mean ram that came with the computer? I have personally never heard of ram built into a computer. If the ram was bad, the computer wouldn't boot. Maybe the ram is starting to go, but try other ram in the computer and run the same test and see what the results are.

Only 500000 errors ey?

intergrated RAM is always shocking in both quality and performance.

I've given up and given the laptop back to its owner. From what I can tell, is the onboard ram is bad, and you cannot disable, so the laptop is junk.

Oh well, thanks for the replies.
