Ok, I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop. I purchased 2 512mb DDR SODIMM pc2100 2.5v sticks of ram for it. The bios is updated to A32.

This ram is compatable with this laptop. When I turn on the laptop the Caps lock, Num lock, and power LEDs will blink a few times, then the laptop shuts down.

I've tried one stick, and two sticks, in one spot, and in another spot, and it's the same thing. When I put the old ram back in, it works just fine.

Ask me if I need to add anything else so you can help me.

this can sometimes occur if your ram speed (mhz) is not the same as your previous. i know that if i try using 444mhz on my desktop it will wrk for a few minutes and then stop however this is not the case when using 333mhz. i would recommend that if you can exchange for a one with the exact same properties except for the memory of course.
