am using windows xp pro . now i decided i have to format and reinstall a fresh windows xp pro.
but when i began installing set up quits with the following message

file\i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded
the error code is 7

my pc is dell pentium 4
256mb ram and 40 gb hard disk

i have tried google abt the problem it but it doesnt help

Does it always come up with the same error? If so, even whem you start from scratch?

I've had install problems that were caused by broken IDE controller devices, dirty install disks and failing hard drives and memory. Try cleaning the disk and install again. If you have an IDE controller problem then you probably need to change motherboards or buy a new IDE/SATA controller card whichever is appropriate. If that is a hard drive error then run chkdsk C: /f /r from the repair panel.

Your memory can be checked with Memtest+. You will have to burn the ISO to CD or write the program to a floppy and let it run for at least eight complete passes to check for memory errors. Plan on an overnight run.

i had an xp home edition and i tried that it worked (it was installed)
but when ido the xp pro the problem appears again .
is it from the cd or the pc the problem is coming?

Since XP home worked, it might be the XP Pro disk. Try cleaning it. It might be just a bit of grease, dirt or something interfering with the reading of the disk.
