installing wireless network on windows 98

Hi I have a problem installing a wireless network in windows 98, heres my setup:

Netgear wireless router on PC running windows xp and connected via cable.
Toshiba laptop with wireless card (which works fine) nd is assignd ip address 192.168.0.2

Acer laptop running windows 98 se (clean install) with netgearr PCIcma card (that came with the router. Will not work - it is assigned an ip address of 169.254.135.253 which doesnt seem right??

Can anyone help??
