I would buy one if the price is right. You can have too many games but an extra video card is a good idea. I like how it looks. Simple and clean.
Purely in terms of aesthetics, my favorite card is probably the XFX GTS 250, followed closely by Nvidia's FE 3080. Not the best coolers but they do look very cool.2009 is being generous! A Geforce 8800 GTX or Radeon 3890 both look better in my book.
But, yeah, pair that with a gaudy orange or purple mobo and you got a "retro" build. Can't have too many 5.25 front bays. Don't forget to have the PSU above the motherboard!
RT is absolutely mainstream. The people who claim it isnt are either just AMD fanboys who dont want to accept the truth, or they are just ignorant (often the same thing). I mean its in all the big franchises, Call of Duty, Fortnite, Far Cry. Even Minecraft. How many more games need to have it before these people accept it?You are incorrect. Most new games releasing have RT, or just minecraft and doom Most new AAA titles have it. Many of the most played games have it. It’s even on consoles and has been for over a year.
I’ve noticed people are still living in 2018 when RT is new. But it’s the end of 2021, RT is no longer new or gimmicky or niche.
Sure fully path traced games are some way off, we currently only have two. But RT effects in games are common enough to be called mainstream.
I find it amusing that people are still in denial about RT now in late 2021.
Here is a page with extensive lists of games that have ray tracing features across consoles and PC.
I think a lot of it is from people who themselves can’t get hold of an RTX GPU, people like me. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s now almost expected for a modern AAA release to include ray tracing features of some kind. Just because my card doesn’t ray trace doesn’t mean it’s not in most new big releases.RT is absolutely mainstream. The people who claim it isnt are either just AMD fanboys who dont want to accept the truth, or they are just ignorant (often the same thing). I mean its in all the big franchises, Call of Duty, Fortnite, Far Cry. Even Minecraft. How many more games need to have it before these people accept it?
But whatever, let them stick their fingers in their ears and pretend its not happening. We are about to get yet another product line from Intel that will ray trace. It wouldnt surprise me if its better at RT than Radeon lol, even AMDs consoles ray trace better than Radeon apparently.
I REALLY want AMD to succeed, I really do, competition is good for everyone, but I cannot in good conscience recommend AMD until they can produce a reliable driver.
Even with WHQL drivers we still ran into games crashing, freezing or even full on bluescreens. Some Beta drivers were better for us than the WHQL drivers.I had the same issues with Radeon divers until I decided to go ONLY with WHQL drivers.
All Beta drivers s u c k.
AMD team decided not to have a QA dept. and let users do the testing. Radeon bug tool anyone?
