Internet access prob

This prob is kinda strange.

I previously had XP os on my comp but i couldnt access the internet via the web browser at all although the commands ping and tracert worked just fine and I also had fedora core 4 installed on the same comp and i could access the net through the browser. I couldnt figure out what the problem was so installed win2000 now I can access the net just fine.

But do you guys have any idea why it didnt work on XP?

well, you've buried the tracks as far as diagnostics, so it's ney improbable to
venture a meaningful guess.

most issues come down to a bad configuration in some component but who's to say now?

So the only way to find out the solution is to install xp again i.e., if I still have the same problem. . .

kind of; it's like fixing a problem with your car; if there's no evidence of the problem, which part(s) to you fix?

If you're satisfied with the system you're running, then keep it and forget the
XP.
If you really want XP, then reinstall and we can take it up as the symptoms
arise.
