First, Hello to all, and thanks for jobs well-done. Until this time I've only been a viewer of posts. And now I have an issue.
I have two computers side-by-side that are essentially the same running XP Pro. The main computer initiates and runs Internet Explorer very, very, slow (35-38 seconds for Internet Explorer to initiate as opposed 3.5 seconds for the other computer to initiate Internet Explorer. Web pages are equally slow on main computer, but fast on the second computer.
I've completed the normal items to make Internet Explorer run faster such as deleting the temporary files, history, cookies, etc. etc. as well as a number of other tweaks to improve the speed. I've optimize the hard drive. But nothing reduces the time frames.
I have computer Associates anti-software, spyware, malware running as well as running Lavaware AdAware personal security software. I use Norton software and Regedit two keep my Registry clean. I use Norton disk software to keep my hard drives in good shape.
The problem may have been initiated when I installed Google's Web Accelerator and subsequently uninstall it. However, I suspect I may have a virus or viruses. So.....
I downloaded hijack, renamed the initiating file, and ran it. The log file is attached. A number of entries are troublesome.
They are:
The BHO entires with noname,
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mljjj - C:\WINDOWS\
O20 - Winlogon Notify: xxyvuuu - xxyvuuu.dll (file missing)
Other entries are bothersome.
The URLs with NameServer = 170.215.126.3,170.215.184.3 included are my insertions per my Internet provider.
Incidentally, when I put Google’s url into My Computer, C: drive address bar, Google comes up with in 2 seconds or less !
Any assistance, advise, or direction you could provide would be most appreciated. If you need further information, please let me know.
Thanks everyone for all that you do.
Doug
