iPod 5th generation

I'm interested in the new 5th generation iPod and was wondering if there's any quick ie under 2 or 3 hours way of ripping a say 90 minute long DVD into MPEG4 or H.264 video format? Also how useful will the video feature on the new iPod be? Will it be a proper, full function or a lazy gimmick in your opinion?
