Directx :"cabinet file cannot be trusted"

First timer here. This is fyi ...
I too had above prob -trying to update directx .
The link below somewhere has 4 methods to try- reboot after each one to determine right method. Then install directx.
I have Winxp on sp1.
Downloaded dxwebsetup zip file.

What worked for me was..

1. Go to start menu, then Run
2. Type in cmd
3. Type the following, pressing enter after each line. (press OK if prompted)
regsvr32 /u softpub.dll
regsvr32 /u wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /u initpki.dll
regsvr32 /u dssenh.dll
regsvr32 /u rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 /u gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 /u sccbase.dll
regsvr32 /u slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 /u mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /u cryptdlg.dll
exit
THEN
Restart the computer.
Go to start, then run.
Type in cmd.
Type the following, pressing enter after each line:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 mssip32.dll

Try using one of methods I'm sure there's a fix 4 ya sumwhere.
Let me know when you've sorted it.
Note: I found running directx setup from pc while offline produced a msg during install "no connection to internet.." appeared -once connected the install completed successfully. So if u eventually get this msg u know that the "cabinet.." error has been resolved.
