Java problem

Was not sure where to post this but here goes. I have an issue with Java and IE 6. When using firefox, java works fine but when I try to load Java applets on IE I get a red X. The computer has MS Java before and I ran some utilities to get rid of it. I need Java to work with IE. Any help is appreciated.

Under advanced internet options, do you have a check box to use Sun Java and is it ticked?

its checked off but says it requires restart. I am running the latest version of JVM

You should uninstall MSJava and install Sun Java.
Follow the instructions here:

the word here holds the link to Sun java.

And then you should stop using IE, except for Windoze updates..
Go to www.getfirefox.com and install AND USE Firefox.

What does BrowserSpy's Java Information tell you?

if your security settings in IE have disabled JAVA, then lower it a notch or enable it.
like the others said, use Mozilla, or Mozilla Firefox.
