I am thinking about trying Firefox and just got done downloading it. I would
just like to know if it is secure or not and if there are patches for what is not?

As long as you get the latest Firefox (now 1.0.6) you'll get the best browser available.
IE never was, and never will be, anywhere even NEAR safe!
