Hi

Are modem routers suposed to loose there settings when they are turned off.
i have a kcorp 5810 adsl modem router, works fine, but when i turn off my router and pc and put them back on say next day, lights on the modem are fine but windows xp (home) says the wireless connection has limited or no conectivity, and i cant even ping my routers setup it just says destination unreachable.

So to get it to work i have to bring the router to the other end of the house and plug it directly into my PC's Lan and then i can get into the setup to restore the settings. Moved back to the phone socket, plugged in and the wireless connection is perfect again.

Can someone advise it's realy anoying?

You could set a fixed IP address on the computer. This would not then need to get its IP from the router via DHCP.

I'll have to pass on that as I'm on a Mac.

You might try 'Network Connections | Properties' or wait for a complete answer.
