Laptop freezes when running disk defrag

hi guys

when i run my disk defrag it freezes and i can't do anything it has told be to defrag my laptop but in doing so i crashes and freezes what can i do i need to defrag my laptop otherwise my laptop will run slow

I think you need to delete unwanted files, you need at least 25% free space for it to work.

i have 71% free yet it freezes so is there anything else i can do

try reformating your laptop if all fails

We see this happening when the hard drive has bad sectors. Suggest, as a precaution, that you download and run the drive fitness test provided free by the manufacturer of the hard drive.
Most tests are fast and accurate, but you may need the model number or part number or serial number off the hard drive... You can usually get the info you need by booting to the BIOS.
