Laptop screen goes blank, wont POST

I am harbouring a Winbook of indeterminate age, with a celeron processor. It is running on Win2KPro, but that is just about all I can tell you about it atm. I booted it up, which it did quite swiftly, got it online, and within 5 mins, the screen had completely frozen. Can't get into Task Manager. I shut the notebook down, and rebooted: 5 short beeps, blank screen. Rebooted again, no post, blank screen.

Any ideas chaps?

Faulty battery or power-connection? Something loose inside the laptop?
