Laptop won't turn on

Hi i am having a weird problem, my computer just won't turn on

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1550 (i know thats probly the problem)

last night i was playing video games on my computer for probly too long when everything froze up, nothing would work to get it to turn off so i hit the button and turned it off
i went to turn it back on, it got to windows and froze again
i turned it off and back on again and this time it just went to the very first screen you see when i turn it on and frooze there,
since then it wont even get to that point

when i turn it on, the green power light comes on, and i can hear the computer start to work but nothing happens, the screen just stays black

i talked to dell tech support, and they had me do a few things, we found out its not thebattery or power source
and also while turning it on they had me push the FN key which made the caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock lights flash

they said that the problem is my motherboard and are going to have a local tech guy fix it,

im just wondering if that is the case or not, cause ive had a problem that they couldnt help me with in the past

Dell is correct this time... Take it in for repair, or save some money for a new laptop
