laptop wo't come out of hybernating state

my son's laptop won't come out of hybernating state. he hit standby button instead of turn off computer by mistake. when he turns on, a message appears on a black sceeen:
restoring hybernating state..... (alt+ctrl+del = cancel)
we turn it off, push standby key and everything. it just won't do anything else except display this message.

never mind.
i figured it out.
i put xp cd in cd rom and 98 boot disk in floppy drive.
started the laptop with 98 boot with cd rom support and stated win xp install with repair option. bingo.
