LCD shows RED!!! on my Compaq 1215US.

My screen suddenly has a beautiful image but all is in mostly red tones with some yellows. It has ever given me any trouble before--no fading or dark spots. Changing the resolution does not help. Any ideas? I don't have a large pocketful of money, so am trying to figure this out without just throwing parts at it. I hve built my own desktops but this thing is sort of a mystery in comparison.
