Links and Internet Explorer

Whever I click a link, Internet Explorer opens a window for is, unless I am using MSN. How do i set it so IE is NEVER called upon to do a task, except Windows Update?

Is there anyway i can uninstall IE and still use windows update? What about MSN?

IE is tied into the operating system. It can't be removed. Well, I think someone did it once, and got something that was not a complete mess, but never mind about that.

There will be an option in your alternative browser (Opera, Firefox, etc) to check that it is the default browser. Select this. Shutdown the browser and then start it again. When asked to make the default browser, say yes. Also tick the box not to ask that question again.

YOu cannot actually remove Internet explorer becuse it is a core component and will come back .Becuse of the file protection system ..
