Hello,

Just did a stupid thing and am not sure how.
I had a spare hd so I unplugged(Power and ribbon) my hd with the operating system. Plugged in new, format and clean install, all happy and ready to use.

Unplugged plugged back in original, power on self test is fine then hangs before accessing operating sys.

If I press f8 at boot then select the hd it boots fine.

Is there a quick fix to this. Its not major but a bit of a pain

Xp Home
Asus AN8 SLI Deluxe.

Any help appreciated.

As TypeX45 says, you can reset the BIOS, or alternativley (if your BIOS has this option, mine does) choose the option which says "Auto Detect Hard Disks" and it should pick up your primary hard drive from now on

Thanks Ill try that now.

By resetting the bios btw do you mean clearing the cmos or just loading failsafes?

Thanks

Edit;

All set to auto so no joy there
