Low spec HP is killing me

About 6 months ago I purchased a really basic all in HP Pavillion machine , I replaced the 256 mem with a 512 I had but thats all. To start with it was ok but a 13 yr old girl is not bothered with anything.

There is now no spyware or virus but everything runs at a snail pace and cpu is normally showing 100%.

I have been 20mins trying to fins systen info and am losing the will to live I must say that I did kick the box in bad temper!

It has onboard everything and I am thinking about keeping the box and replacing the innards.

Most computers like HP and Dell come loaded with alot of crap. All those icons on the desktop and programs in the start menu will slow down the system alot, especially if you have onboard video. Id go into Add/Remove programs and get rid of everything you dont use and disable anything you dont need in the start menu. Upgrading to a gig of RAM will help too. Hopefully you werent unlucky enough to get a 5400rpm hard drive.
