hello and welcome to Techspot.
First make sure the mic is plugged into the mic socket on your soundcard.
Then go to your control panel and double click on sounds and audio devices.
Click on the audio tab and make sure under recording, it is set to your soundcard. Click on the voice tab and do the same.
Click on the volume tab and make sure the volume is set to high, also make sure that the place volume icon in the taks bar is ticked.
In the device volume pane, click on the advanced button. Make sure that the mute button for mic is checked. Click on the options tab and select properties and then check the record button, make sure that microphone is checked and click ok.
Make sure the mic is selected and that the volume is at the top.
Close the recording control panel.
Click on the voice tab again and then click on the test hardware button and follow the instructions. Click apply/ok.
Your mic should now be set up.
