We previously reported that Microsoft made it possible for companies to block download and installation of Windows XP service pack 2 through automatic updates, because of fears of compatibility issues. Well, Microsoft have just extended the length of the block, effectively doubling the number of months that corporate customers can block automatic delivery.

This increases the amount of time corporate customers have to sort out their compatibility issues to about eight months, into April 2005. "At the end of this period, the Automatic Update mechanism will download SP2 to all Windows XP machines, the company said."
