WTF?! Thanks to the likes of PUBG, Fortnite, and Apex Legends, most people know what the phrase Battle Royale means. Now, an anonymous millionaire wants to create a real-life version of a last-man-standing event on a private island.

As reported by IGN, an advertisement appeared on Hush Hush—a luxury, online marketplace for the rich—requesting someone who can help design an arena for the 100-person event. If you think you’re up to the task, which requires experience in large-scale event management and set design, the job pays around $59,000 for an expected six weeks of work.

The event will take place across three days on a private island with each day’s fighting lasting 12 hours, and the final survivor walks away with £100,000 ($130,660). Those taking part will camp during the nights, and all food, camping equipment, and other necessary gear will be provided.

Unlike the original book, movies, and games, competitors won’t actually be killing each other in this instance. Instead, players will be armed with Airsoft guns, ammo, and touch-sensitive body armor, which sounds like fun.

"Battle royale games have become incredibly popular over the last few years ago and our customer is a huge fan who wants to make the game a reality in the safest way possible,” says Hush Hush’s founder, Aaron Harpin.

Should everything go to plan, and the event is a success, the mysterious millionaire behind the game wants to turn it into an annual event.

Permalink to story.

This sounds pretty cheap for a millionaire lol, the winner will get more money than the designer, this doesn't sound like a flop whatsoever.

So basically it's Paintball... but way more awesome :)

Basically. The typical airsoft game goes by the honor system since the ammo is 6mm plastic BBs.

Touch sensitive armor could be annoying since it could get triggered if you are running for cover and bump into something.

My guess is that they would have the Airsoft BBS tagged in a way that would only affect the armor in a very specific way, probably via software.

That way a branch or falling wouldn’t trigger a false-positive.

1% world pleasure/problems. If anything I hope it gets streamed or something. Would be kind of cool to watch.

I suspect people would lose interest when they realized you can't run at the speed of an Olympic sprinter all the time, jump like a human flea or fly.

Its only the payment for PLANNING the event. The mystery moneybag will obviously fund everything.

Frankly, the whole thing sounds lame to me. If you want to see people slinking around trying to snipe each other just get on Liveleak or spend a few days in Detroit.

I'd pay to watch a TV series based around this. :) I'm picturing a Hunger Games style death match (without the actual death)

Honestly sounds boring. I mean only 100 people? This would play out horribly. Everyone would be hiding hoping others get picked off first. Mostly you would be watching hours of people hiding with a couple seconds of fun in between. If you wanted something like this to actually be fun, you would need it to run for weeks with actually survival elements built into it. In any case this would be very expensive to actually be entertaining.

If you've watched any network TV recently, CBS has a show called, "The Million Dollar Mile". Basically, it seems like it's been pulled almost in toto from Schwarzenegger's movie, "The Running Man". (Of course without the actual intent to kill the contestants).

Note one of the very few comments on this turd:

Anyone else remember the movie The Running Man? We will have that for real, sooner than later I imagine...
