Minimum requirements for testing mobo?

Am I correct in assuming that all you need to test mobo functionality is HD, CPU, RAM, Video, and power? If the mobo is good, shouldn't it boot with just these components present. I am trying to verify if a laptop mobo is bad and I have eliminated HD, CPU, Video card, and RAM as the problem. Isn't mobo failure the only thing left?

You don't need to have a HD connected to see if it will boot. Sounds like the mobo is the problem if you've verified the only parts.

There is still the power supply unless you just forgot to list it as having been eliminated too.
