Modem Connection to 360 and router

Hi,

I have an unsolvable problem with my router that results in random disconnects from Xbox Live. I want the 360 to bypass my router by plugging it directly into my modem. Is the correct solution to buy an ethernet network switch hub, plug this into the modem and then plug the router and 360 into the hub? Can anyone please advise what I should be using?

no that's not correct. you must use modem--router--otherstuff unless
you want to ONLY use modem--one.box

BTW, the random disconnects were a result of the failing routher which I got replaced and now everything works fine.
